Hi Klaus

could you please give details of why the "Isis
Comunity" make you discard the ISIS name from the
project?

Hi there,
so far, I can only contribute with the following, but I would love to
enhance my rather weak programming skills (still stuck to WXIS, learning
PHP ) to the ^isis (reat NOT isis , pun intended) project.

First thing that crossed my mind for a name
? not v100 :'isis'
( not containing isis in the most weird formatting language) is

OSIRIS : Open Source Information Retrieval, It Seems
OSIRIS : Open Source Information Retrieval, I Seek
OSIRIS : Open Source Information Retrieval, Infinite Solutions
OSIRIS : Open Source Information Retrieval Intelligent System
OSIRIS : Open Source Information Retrieval Incredible System
OSIRIS : Open Source Information Retrieval International System
etc. whatever
(ran out of better words after the R).

I rememember Osiris from my history lessons in secondary school;
guess what, in Ancient Egypt mythology, Osiris was one of the most important
gods, and the murdered husband of goddess Isis. (Ok, maybe not a nice image,
sorry, but it stays in the "family").
And, "he was both a god of fertility and the embodiment of the dead and
resurrected king"(Encyclopedia Britannica dixit) . There the image gets
better icon_smile.gif

It might be nicer to be called "Horus" who was the son of Isis, but I can't
find any ingenious words relating to information systems with those letters.

On the other hand, the bad news is that OSIRIS software already exists,
http://www.google.com/search?client=googlet&q=osiris%20software
but it does not appear to be database related.
www.osiris.net and www.osiris.org are taken, too.

PS: For $250, do I get the whole thing, including documentation ? icon_wink.gif

OK, I will think of some better name later, not as used as Osiris. I am
exhausted right now.
What about HIELOS ? You know Isis in english reminds me of littles cubes of
frozen water, ices, so put it in spanish, you got

HIELOS
Holistic Information Extended Library (Open Source)

OK, that's it, my brain is melting, sorry. Just putting some humour in this
sad family story.

Sincerely yours
Nicolas Rucks

the reconstruction of Osiris by Isis is a wonderful love story,
rendered a virtual reality 12 years ago by my cousin Jochen Schmidt

absolutely, but unfortunately mediterrenean mythology has next
to completely turned software (including, of course, Selene).
Your continent still has unprogrammed gods, like Ix Chel.

There's nothing sad about offspring leaving home.
At least not for the offspring.
