That is really good news.

Depending on the licence we will be able of merging the formating language
everybody likes into OpenIsis.

That versions of CISIS already existed before. Would it be too rush to
say what are going to be the new developments? Maybe a true server, not
just file management?

Plus, based on the discussion on the Relational Model that has rised
before. I just want to make some comments.

First, some people has commented that CDS/ISIS is like Google and friends.
They are just wrong, Google and friends uses the vectorial model [1],
while CDS/ISIS not. I think that vectorial model is what Bireme is
interested in right now. At least, that was what Adalberto told me in
Cuba a long ago. And that is the technology that uses Scielo. Is that
new technology going to be freed too?

Second, the formating language of CDS/ISIS is not elegant. Elegant =
simple + powerful. The formating language is neither. The sintaxis is
just not simple, then I think a parser for it would be complicated too.
The formating language is not extensible, that is, it is not powerful.
That is why a lot of persons do strange merging of other language like PHP
and formats.

Latter, I just would like to say that some comments over the Relational
Model, which is a formalization, that is a mathematical model, are somehow
wrong. For instance saying that Koha is complicated because it has 90
tables comparing to other software that has 10, his a little bit shallow.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want to anger anyone. The difference in the
tables count is just because one data model is normalized, and that
implies a lot. Search for Codd papers.

It is always good to have an open mind... a Zen detachement. icon_biggrin.gif
