Hello

I keep going develop a library search with PHP openIsis.

And now, again, I need a tip about DB search:

How can I make a search over more than one Base? Like three or more .

regards

i want to do the same, this is one of my next thing to do in clabel, and i planned to do
it using webservises, i know is more easy just calling the isis_query function with
diferents dbid but a webservice is a more elegant and general solution, once created the
webservices can be used to search all your db from diferentes clients, locally or remote,
and the php code for search will be more easy mantein.
and also a start to learn how to use xml/xslt in the real live icon_smile.gif
what do you think?

in the classical way i think that using isis_query with diferentes dbid will do the trick
but i never try before, so can't garanty taht it works

Web services are the same that RPC, DCOM, Corba, ... but different.

Web services are an interchange of data between a server and a client, using a standard format in XML to "pack" requests and data, in order that both systems "understand" each other. Both the server or the client can be Web servers, or any other device you can think of.

Data interchange on the Web usually occurs by the 80 port, using the POST of the HTTP protocol.

Web services operate tipically the same way Web browsers operate. The difference is that instead of HTML you have XML.

Thus, Web services are available in any place of Internet, the same way HTML pages are, even through firewalls.

Take a look in Google for: XML-RPC, SOAP, WSDL, UDDI, Web Services.

Good luck with homework.

Actually, I believe the right solution would be to have one inverted index for several master files. Opening a database should be opening an index. If the index maps to several master files, you will have the kind of search that you want. I've been looking through the documentation and I am a bit clueless on how to do this.

Regards,

B.
